Creating a mold with deep relief is for thick glaze applications and my love for more a sculptural dimension to a flat tile. Wooden jigs with clamps secure my tile form. A release agent is applied to every surface, spray cooking oil or wipe on petroleum jelly works to release the plaster of Paris.

Choosing glazes is a long process. I love color matching and recreating textures of antiquity.

Tiles are shown before the gold luster is applied.

Gold luster finished.

It’s taken months to get the tile setters due to a shortage of contractors and concrete. I’m fitting the top nautilus shell over the clam pedestal for our water feature.
