The Three Fates or Moirai are Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. According to Greek legend, Clotho was the Spinner for our thread of life. She was the one who determined when a child would be born and who were to be saved or put to death. Clotho didn’t want that responsibility of controlling destiny so she destroyed the loom of fate and it was spread across the multiverse. My mosaic grid pattern is much like the warp of a loom. This mosaic sculpture is made to function as a fountain, a light and planter. I’m fascinated with bringing these three elements together as my own eclectic theme of enlightenment, nurturing growth and an opportunity to share different cultural Mythologies.

The Clothoid is a spiral shape characterized by its curvature being proportional to its length. You can see my clothoid in the hands of my sculpture. It’s a design that transitions easily into roads and roller coaster loops and countless shapes in nature. The “Curly S” shapes can be imagined as fantastic branches of leaves, seahorses, dragons or wild waves. Often times when a person finds that I’m an artist they declare,” I cannot even draw a straight line”. My answer is nothing from nature in this universe is straight, it’s a series of elliptical shapes and if the size is large enough, from one angle it may temporarily appear straight. Eventually all will all curve, collapse and transform to the ebb and flow of a universal pattern. My thoughts are expressed through narrative historic stories and art. Clotho with her spiraling spool of life’s yarn satisfies my imagination of time with a little part of Greek Mythology. Enjoy your life.
